Step 3: Complete the application process for SA@UA

The Study Abroad Student Advisor will confirm reccommendation to apply based on the course selection.  Course registration is done after being officially admitted to the U of A.  Course registration is done at different times depending on the faculty/department you are admitted to.

To apply for Study Abroad @UA, click here to submit your online application.  For help completing your application see the online application tip sheet located at the bottom of this page. 

After submitting your SA@UA online application, you must submit the following to:

Or faxed to 1-780-492-6213. 

If faxing your application please also submit by regular mail.

  • $115 CDN (non-refundable) application fee ($75 if you have previously attended the University of Alberta)
  • A passport sized photo.
  • An official record (transcript) of all post-secondary work completed and/or currently in progress at your home institution.  (Please note: An Official Transcripts bears an official university seal or signature and is sent directly from the home institution to the University of Alberta in a sealed envelope.) 
  • An official record (transcript) of all high school work.
  • Documentation of Language Proficiency as follows:
    • Proof of English Language Proficiency for students from non-partner institutions must be met by one of the following:
      • 3 years of education in which the language of instruction was English
      • 580 TOEFL (237 computer-based test)
      • 6.5 on the IELTS
      • 90 on the MTELP
    • Proof of English Language Proficiency for students from exchange or study abroad agreement partner institutions can be demonstrated by a letter from the home university certifying sufficient English Language Proficiency.  (TOEFL documentation may be required.)
    • Proof of French Language Proficiency for students from non-partner institutions wishing to take courses delivered in French must be met by one of the following:
      • 3 years of education in which the language of instruction was French
      • Applicable minimum score on the TEF as needed for the prerequisite to enter desired course
      • Testing can be done upon arrival for free, however, student must test to necessary minimum level to enter desired course
    • French Language Proficiency requirements for students from exchange or study abroad agreement partner institutions can be demonstrated by a letter from the home university certifying sufficient French Language Proficiency.  (TEF documentation may be required.)
