Over $500,000 in awards is available for UAlberta students participating in formal Study or Work Abroad Programs.

With so many resources available, you can't afford not to go abroad. Types of funding include:

Many UAlberta faculties offer awards for education abroad. Check with your faculty or consult the Education Abroad Award Directory, a list of study awards and internship funding options from across campus.

Value: variable number of awards valued between $750 - $3750

Dr Horst A Schmid Travel Bursary - OPEN
Value: variable number of awards valued between $500 - $1500

The Washington Center (TWC) for Internships & Academic Seminars Award - OPEN
Value: up to $8000 for up to 8 students

Other Funding Sources

U of A students participating on a Study Abroad program remain registered at the U of A while on exchange, therefore are eligible for Alberta and Canada student loans. Ensure you check out the Office of Student Awards and your own faculty to locate any faculty-specific awards for students studying abroad.
