University of Alberta Research Experience (UARE)

The University of Alberta is a research-intensive post-secondary institution located in western Canada. It consistently ranks among the top 3-5 schools nation-wide as well as the top 100 in the world (QS World Ranking). 40,000 students attend the University of Alberta, 7000 of which are graduate students. We maintain 170 graduate programs, 400 research laboratories, and our faculty members receive approximately $500 million in external research funding.

The UARE provides a unique opportunity for talented senior undergraduate students from key partner universities around the world to conduct research under the supervision of faculty members who are experts in their field. Students gain hands-on research experience working under an expert in their academic discipline and receive a stipend of $6,000 (4,500 USD), which will cover the costs associated with living in Edmonton during the 12 week program. Research placements are available during the winter (January to April) and summer (May to August).
