August 31st - September 3, 2011
We are looking forward to welcoming you to the University of Alberta and know that you have many questions about your move or about settling yourself in Edmonton before the start of classes.
Please be sure to register for the orientation!
Transitions runs from August 31st - September 3rd, 2011 and is designed to acquaint you with the University of Alberta, Edmonton and Canada. It is our experience that international students who come to Transitions have fewer difficulties with their adjustment, immigration and other matters.
Highlights include:
- Achieving academic success and meeting professor expectations
- Immigration Regulations
- Registration Procedures
- Cross-cultural adjustment
- Living day to day in Canada
- Winter Fashion Show
- Tours of campus, downtown Edmonton, libraries, and campus recreation facilities.
- Social events including a welcome breakfast and barbeque
- Mobile phone assistance
- Academic Responsibilities and Procedures
- Peer Program introductions
- Information on student groups and services available to international Students
Parent Orientation
An orientation session for parents on August 30th, 2011 is also included as part of Transitions. This is a chance for parents to get information about the U of A and Edmonton. We will also address common concerns and challenges that parents face when a child is studying abroad and will provide information on how you can overcome these challenges. If your parents would like to attend our Parent Orientation please indicate this when you register for Transitions.
